Aids and special features :  
Teaching aims : Students will be familiar with the important components of micro-computers, their functions and the various interactions at play. They will possess the essential skills and knowledge necessary to optimise the programming configuration of a micro-computer. In addition, they will have a sufficient understanding of standard applications to independently configure a micro-computer for specific tasks. 
Contents :

ALU structures and technical features, register files, serial and parallel ALUs and special characteristics of data formats that can be modified, semi-conductor memory architecture and addressing strategies, bus systems and bus arbitration, hardware concepts for interrupt and trap handling, structures and interfaces of selected peripheral interfaces.
