Advanced project management
Students are capable of managing the technical, organizational, and interpersonal aspects of a complex project as project managers.
They understand the project execution process in both traditional and agile environments and are able to identify risks to project success early, take preventive measures, and address them effectively if necessary.
They possess the ability to organize work within a project team and understand the social and psychological processes that occur within such teams.
Students are able to think, argue, and act in a team-oriented manner and manage and resolve conflicts at a low level of escalation.
They are equipped to apply essential project management methods in practice and to respond effectively to specific problem situations in projects.
- Classical Phase Models (e.g., Waterfall Model, V-Model)
- Incremental and Agile Process Models (e.g., Prototyping, Scrum, KANBAN)
- Risk Management, Quality Management, and Program Management in the Context of Software Development Projects
- Teaching of Phase-Specific Methods, specifically:
- 1. PROJECT INITIATION: Project proposal, project goals, requirements specification (Pflichtenheft) and functional specification (Lastenheft), conflict management, risk analysis, risk management, project organization
- 2. PROJECT PLANNING: Milestones, personnel, tasks, planning sequence, planning techniques, challenges in effort estimation, evaluation of results obtained
- 3. PROJECT CONTROL: Data collection, examples of checklists, control metrics and measures, schedules, costs and effort, progress tracking, quality
- 4. PROJECT CLOSURE: Product acceptance, product maintenance, variance and cost-effectiveness analysis, leadership in projects, team development
- Additionally: Case studies from corporate practice, opportunity to earn the certificate "Certified Professional in Project Management" from ASQF/ISQI through voluntary participation in an additional block seminar
